Following a favourable 2013 for the Norwegian forest industry, when a total of 9 million cubic metres of industrial roundwood were cut for sale, the highest volume in 20 years, the first half of 2014 seems to continue this positive trend.

After falling last year by about 7 percent, in January-June 2014, sawlog prices have picked up over last year. Pine and spruce sawlogs are more expensive in June 2014 by about EUR 5,5 per m3 as compared to the same month last year. However, against May, sawlogs price has slided by EUR 1,2-1,8/m3.

Pulpwwod assortments have become cheaper over June 2013 in the range of EUR 2,5-2,7/m3, with spruce pulpwood declining the most.

Prices are converted from NOK to EUR at ECB rates for each specific month. Price source: metla.fi
